The lessons from an experiment on why you should speak and think positively of yourself and others.
Dr Masaru Emoto, a researcher and alternative healer, conducted an experiment using rice to test a theory on the power of positive thinking and speaking. He took 3 glass beakers and placed an equal amount of rice into them and covered with water, closing the lids to seal them. On the first beaker he applied a label and wrote the words ‘Thank you’. On the second he wrote a label, ‘you’re an idiot’. And on the third he didn’t give a label. Every day for a month, Dr Emoto said ‘thank you’ to the first beaker. He said, ‘you’re an idiot’ to the second, and ignored the third. The result of this experiment was significant. The rice that had been spoken to in a positive manner (‘thank you’) had fermented and had a pleasant aroma. The rice that had been spoken to negatively (‘you’re an idiot’) had turned black, and the rice that he had ignored for a month had begun to rot.
From this study, he concluded that the energy we put into our thoughts, intentions, and words (to objects, others, and how we speak internally to ourselves) affects our physical world, particularly through how we interact with children. The theory behind this practical result refers to the molecular structure of water that can be affected by sounds, music, words, and thoughts. Humans are made up of 70 percent water and our physical bodies and minds can be affected by negative or positive words and thought. Our mindset, thoughts and words affect our mind and body and those around us. The lesson Dr Emoto teaches us through his story, is that a compassionate and positive mindset will help maintain a healthy mind and body, and therefore benefit from harmony and peace.
Dr Emoto elaborates on the theories behind the healing power of water in his book – ‘The Miracle of Water’.
